<p>Royal Air Force Holmpton or more simply RAF Holmpton is a former Royal Air Force Cold War era nuclear bunker that was built in the 1950s as an early warning radar station as part of the ROTOR Radar Defence Programme. Located just south of the village of Holmpton, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, RAF Holmpton remained a part of the Defence Estate right up to 8 December 2014 when it was sold into private ownership after 62 years of military service.</p><p>The site runs to about 36 acres (150,000&nbsp;m2) and comprises a number of surface structures along with a secure 35,000 square feet (3,300&nbsp;m2) command bunker which is about 100 feet (30&nbsp;m) below ground</p><p><br></p><p>RAF Holmpton - Visit the Bunker - Rysome Ln, Holmpton, Withernsea HU19 2RG</p><p><br></p><p>The former RAF Holmpton is a cold war era nuclear bunker preserved and maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers and veterans. Our next opening weekend is 4th and 5th May 2024. We open at 11am, last admissions are at 4pm and we close at 5pm. Adult entry is £15, under 16 years £10, under 5 years free entry.
