As an 11 year old boy Allan Scott dreamt of becoming an aircraft pilot. Years later, in 1939, war was declared and he saw the chance to realise his boyhood dream. Undeterred by the Air Force’s initial rejection of his application Allan was subsequently selected for the role he desired, a fighter pilot. In training he was considered a ‘natural’ in the Spitfire cockpit and his love of aerobatics would go on to help him evade enemy Messerschmitt aircraft and defend London and South England from attacks by German bombers.
