<p>WWII veteran Charles Clarke describes his RAF training.</p><p><br></p><p>Charles Clarke (November 1923 - May 2019) joined the Royal Air Force in 1941 and served until 1978, having reached the rank of Air Commodore. </p><p><br></p><p>Here he describes when his 619 Squadron Lancaster bomber was shot down in February 1944, his eventual capture by German troops and being sent to Stalag Luft III. In late 2018, Charles visited the memorial in Germany that had been erected to the crew of his Lancaster:</p><p><br></p>
