Lickle Jay has firmly established himself on the international reggae scene and within the UK’s contemporary urban music landscape. With over 20 years of experience in the industry, he has developed a signature style that seamlessly blends smooth R&B vocals with reggae deejaying, all while showcasing his impressive lyrical ability and rapping flow.

At just 14, Lickle Jay rose to prominence as the lead Garage/ Grime MC for his music crew Troopers (also known as Jah Troopers), performing for rave brands like Sidewinder alongside renowned acts such as Boy Better Know (with Skepta, Wiley), Nasty Crew (with Kano, DdoubleE), So Solid Crew, Heartless Crew and more. His early contributions played a key role in the emergence of the current UK rap scene, which is now a dominant force in mainstream charts. One of his standout recordings from that era is "Badmind People" with Jammer, as well as the classic tale "Jimmy & John," with his a flawless flow over Dr Dre & Eminems beat “Forget about Dre”.

Parallel to this success Lickle J and his group Jah Troopers also built their reputation within the circuit reggae circuit, gaining international recognition playing concerts alongside legends like Beenie Man, Chaka Demus & Pliers, Morgan Heritage, Etana, and Donell Jones. Lickle Jay’s role as both a lead MC and performer became his trademark, combining hosting and live performances into an electrifying stage performance.

In addition to his work with Jah Troopers, Lickle Jay has demonstrated versatility as a solo artist, effortlessly crossing genres such as afrobeats, R&B, hip hop, soul, drum & bass, and dancehall. His notable releases include "Sorry" a cover of Tracy Chapman’s "Baby Can I Hold You" featuring the "Godfather of Grime" Wiley, and the soulful R&B track "My Baby," which received recognition from Wordplay Magazine, Grime Daily, Volatile Weekly, Chronicle & Echo, and Hype Magazine. His 2024 release, "Keeping It Moving," showcases his adaptability within drum'n'bass.

Lickle Jay continues to thrive as both a solo artist and a member of Jah Troopers. He recently featured on the "Still I Rise" tour with 2Funky Arts, performing across cities such as Birmingham, Nottingham, Luton, Leicester, and Derby.
