BRIGHT LIGHT BRIGHT LIGHT aka ROD THOMAS musical origins began in the sleepy West Wales town of Neath where Rod began releasing nu folk - indie tracks in 2006. Immediately championed by BBCR1 + Introducing Wales (his debut single ‘Same Old Lines’ was played for 8 consecutive weeks on BBCR1).
Rod’s earliest radio sessions charmed the likes of Huw Stephens, Adam Walton and Bethan Elfyn and saw Rod armed with ukulele and sampler crafting a hybrid nu-folk disco mashup, Influenced by the likes of Noah & The Whale, Mumford & Sons, MGMT, LCD Soundsystem, all held in place by pounding Studio 54/Niles Rogers-eque grooves.
In 2013 ROD relocated to New York to begin collaborating with SCISSOR SISTERS. On this fairy tale trans atlantic relocation Rod says, “I moved to NYC because I met Scissor Sisters and some other fab NYC artists and wanted to make music in a new place with new collaborators’. The move paid off, Rod’s previous 4 LPS have seen BRIGHT LIGHT BRIGHT LIGHT championed by mainstream media and collaborating with some of the biggest names in music eg Scissor Sisters, Sir Elton John, Madonna’
